The Arogya Foundation for the Disabled was born to support disabled people in Sri Lanka enables people with disabilities to improve their life skills. Founded three years ago, the Foundation continues to render their service all over the country and nearly 150 patients have been received necessary medical equipments such as crutches, walking sticks, wheel chairs, etc. The Foundation is a non-profit organization, founded by Rev Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero and registered in Sri Lanka in year 2008.

REPORT ON THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY OF ASSISTIVE DEVICES FOR THE DISABLED HELD 0N 30TH APRIL, 2012 (MONDAY) AT 3.00 PM AT THE NALANDARAMA BUDDHIST TEMPLE , PATHIRAGODA, MAHARAGAMA

WELCOME CEREMONY
The guests from Singapore and Japan including invitees were ceremonially received at the entrance by a group of seven school children offering flower baskets.


The Cultural Dancing Troupe lead the guests to the Shrine Room for worship of Lord Buddha.

KEY NOTE ADDRESS

The key note address was delivered by the Director General of the Foundation and the Thero welcomed the presence of all participants with special gratitude to Patrons of the Foundation Most Ven. Udahamulle Saranapala Thero, Most Ven. Thalapathpitiye Pungngnaloka Thero and Most Ven. Yushi Shimada of Japan including Phan Yue Peng, Chjang Wan How (Madam Helan) and Pan Xinyi (Cindy) from Singapore.

Explaining the activities of the Foundation the Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero out lined the two fold future plan:

One being the establishment of Rehabilitation centre for water therapy treatment for physically handicapped persons and the other being the establishment of a residential medical care centre for sick Buddhist Monks.

He invited Foreign and Local donors to help in this unique causes for the benefit of needy ones.

DONATION OF ASSISTIVE DEVICES - 30.04.2012

Most Venerable Ushi Shimada of Japan and Madam Helan,  Miss Cindy and Mr. Phan Yue Peng of Singapore presented the donation of a wheel chair with commode given by President of the Foundation  Prof. Ariyapala Perera  to Mr. B. Dharmasena 68 years old Disabled person  who was subjected to a fall from a high elevation,    residing at   No. 207/2,  Depanama, Pannipitiya at the mediation of senior journalist  Mr. Wehalle  Piyathilake.

The Most Ven. Udahamulle Saranapala, Most Ven. Thalapathpitiye Pugngnaloka, Patrons of the Foundation and Most Ven. Buddhist monks, presented the donation of a wheel chair with commode to Mrs. E.A. Babynona 97 years of age living at 306 A, Delgoda. Donated by Mr. Nabeetha de Silva at the mediation of Mr. Buddhika Adikari and Mrs. Mihiraji Imbulana, for transfer of merits to the demised donor’s most beloved mother Mrs. Kamala de Silva, at the intervention of Mr. Thilak Panapilitya.

The members of the elders committee presented a wheel chair with commode to Mrs. J.S.De Silva aged 65 years living at 79/75, Kuruppu Road, Borella, donated by President of the Foundation Prof. Ariyapala Perera at the mediation of Mrs. Yasawathie Ranasinghe.

CASH DONATION

The Director General Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero, ceremonially handed over a cash donation made by master Justin Low, 8 year old grand son of Madam Sng Choon Eng living in Singapore to Ms. Yohani Resika Wickremasinghe, 14 year old female student in Grade eight studying at the Dehiwala Holy family Convent in Sri Lanka.

School books and requisites donated by Mr. Buddhika Adikari and Mrs. Mihiraji Imbulana of 167/3, Sanasa Mawatha, Godigamuwa, Maharagama, in order to assist and encourage in studies of Yohani Resika Wickremasinghe, 14 year old female student in Grade eight studying at the Dehiwala Holy family Convent in Sri Lanka were handed over ceremonially. Journalist Mr. Udeni Chandrasiri, Mrs. Anula Karunaratne, Treasurer Mr. Gamini Dahanayake, Asst. Secretary Mr. Upali Jayarathne, Secretary Dr.(Ms.) K.A.L.Dilani, senior journalist Mr. Wehelle Piyatilake, Asst. Secretary Mr. P.A.Gunawardana and Mrs. Banduwathie Ranasinghe presented the school books to Ms. Yohani Resika Wickremasinghe It is significant to note that this child was donated with a wheel chair at the same venue, through this Foundation by the donor Madam Sng Choon Eng, Mr. Goh Kim Hua and his friends of Khar motor in Singapore on 24TH September, 2011 to overcome her barriers on mobile accessibility to attend school even though she has lost her right leg by birth. Mr. Wehelle Piyathilake a senior journalist was instrumental to arrange this presentation.

FRIENDS OF KAH MOTOR – SINGAPORE HELPS NEEDY DISABLES

Financial assistance of Singapore $ 500 was voluntarily donated by the friends of Kah Motor for the benefit of disabled in Sri Lanka. The presentation was made to Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero at his visit to Singapore recently by Madam Sng Choon Eng and Mr. Goh Kim Hua promoted by Most. Ven. Thalagala Sumanaratana Thero.

The merits earned will reciprocate with good health, wealth and prosperity in their daily activities.

DONATION FROM MISS. NICOLETTE TAN WAI IN SINGAPORE FOR DISABLED

In remembrance of her birth day which is due to fall on 20.09,2012 Miss. Nicolette Tan Wai presented a sum of Singapore $ 200 to the Rev. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero Director General of the’ Arogya Foundation for the Disabled’ at his recent visit to Singapore, for the benefit of the needy People with Disabilities. Most Ven. Thalagala Sumanarathana Thero, Madam Sng Choon Eng and Mr. Goh Kim Hua in Singapore who were mostly instrumental to this charitable cause is greatly appreciated.

This meritorious deed will be remembered by everybody of this Foundation and the beneficiaries and collectively wish a Happy Birthday and long healthy life to Miss. Nicolette Tan Wai.

Presentation of Diriya Prasadini Award to the Director General Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero the founder of the ‘Arogya’ Foundation for the Disabled





Awarding of the ‘Diriya Prasadhani’ for selected personnel who have rendered remarkable services for Empowerment of the community with special needs in Sri Lanka, organized by the Saviya Development Foundation was held at the International day on 3rd December 2011 at the Sangamitta Girls College in Galle.At this ceremonial occasion the founder of the ‘Arogya’ Foundation for the Disabled the Director General Ven. Unapana Ariyadhamma Thero was presented with ‘Diriya Prasadhani’ award by the Chief Guest Honourable Mithripala Sirisena the Minister of Health, in appreciation of the services renderd for the Disabled community.
This International Disable day commemoration was graced by the Chief incumbent of Sri Nagarukkarama Buddhist Temple at Kalupe, Hikkaduwa the Most Ven. Ransagoda Rathanadhamma Thero, Most Ven. Karaputugala Dhammarathana Thero, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Deputy Speaker, Chandima Weerakkody, Hon. Dr. M. P.
